My Own Created Products
Everything I make is a labor of love! Each product that I sell has its own special story.
I originally got into aromatherapy because I personally couldn’t use products in the stores, so I found a school and started my training.
My massage cream called “Pain relief” was my first creation, a friend was having some issues and I had been studying. Our families were out during the winter ice skating and we got to talking. It was shared that the husband was in pain from an accident on the job but he kept working on their house so it would get done. But his immune system was getting compromised because between the first injury and not being able to give his body time to recover, he was getting sick. He didn’t like massage at all, so I suggested I would whip something together and drop it off and his wife could apply the massage cream on his injured areas. He was so nervous and she was excited.
I created the blend, drove it over, explained how to use it and why I picked the essential oils that I did. Two weeks go by, they come over to visit and the wife brought up the jar of cream I dropped off. My first thought was “Oh boy, how's this going to go?” she proceeded to tell me how incredibly helpful it was for her whole family! There girls loved it as they were in gymnastics, she used it on her hip that bothers her and it helped her husband. He said it stung but she quickly said.. “You were a mess!” and he agreed. She told me, “So when you make more, I'd like to buy another jar.”
With that I started to make and sell jars of massage cream. 7 years later I have about 9 different products. Salve, cream, bath salts, loose leaf tea, a coloring book, candles, and incense to name a few. I make personalized blends too of course!
My goal is to use and create products that are safe and effective, have a long shelf life, and that are natural as well as ethically sourced.
For example the loose leaf teas that I offer will be changing. I currently offer 4 different blends and I'll be reducing that to 2 blends because I will be growing most of the herbs myself which is something I’ve dreamt about for years! Through my herbalism training, my instructor gave some insight into how many herbs to study in depth. He suggested to keep it to about 12 different herbs and just dive into those, get really familiar with them rather than surface knowledge on a lot. Knowing ALL of them is close to impossible. I’ve thought of the herbs I wanted to focus on for the last 4 years. Thinking and experimenting.
I haven't been out in my garden for about 3 years and it shows. I spent the weekend researching what vegetables and herbs support each other and what grows well in MN. This year I'll be growing 10 herbs.
I look forward to sharing the adventure of prep, growth, harvest, and packaging with you.
I first got into herbalism because in my mind it is closely related to aromatherapy. It’s more knowledge about the plant and how it aids the body in all its many forms. When I started to learn about aromatherapy, I would take a pause and take a slight side quest to learn how herbalism works and then I learned how to make incense (that’s the root of aromatherapy). Not all essential oils are safe to digest and loose leaf tea bridged that gap. The school I chose also connected the astrological connections with each plant and it all just clicked with how my mind works.
So it all ties together with working with plants and energy ultimately and respecting the earth in the process.
