Healing Through Journaling

Healing Through Journaling

Healing through journaling doesn't get enough credit or attention. This topic often gets misunderstood for so many reasons. The funny thing is, it works.

In life, it's possible that a misunderstanding acts as a trigger moment. And looking inward can be hard at times or seem uncomfortable because of the unknown. None of us are perfect, we all have areas of improvement. Going through hard moments is where the growth is. That is what it is to be human. So having the tools to navigate those moments is key.

There is science behind the action of taking pen to paper to help process what's happening in your brain and processing your emotions. It helps the mind and body feel less heavy or jumbled. Our brains can only handle so much before things become overwhelming.

I myself have a stack of journals in my room. I go through moments where I don't use them often but I know I can turn to them and use them as a tool. I often write down my thoughts and then burn them over a fire to help cleanse and release. Using fire is an energetic support as well as symbolic.

When my brain is stuck on a moment, memory, or situation and it's continuously rolling around in my head, I go to my journal and ask questions like I'm having a conversation with my spiritual guides. The other day I ended up having a sweet conversation with my mom (who has passed). I let my mind go and I trusted the messages that came through.

This only works if you truly want the truth.

Other times, you can write to simply get that frustrating conversation out of your head and hopefully you can gain clarity.

I do process outloud but not everything can be done that way, so I use a variety of outlets: journaling, friends, a therapist, and other healers.

We are not meant to go it alone. We are meant to find safe spaces and connections where we can share without judgement.
