Amethyst from Canada

This past July my family and I went on a vacation up into the BWCA. My oldest and I really wanted to go up into Canada and check out one of the Amethyst mines they have near Thunder Bay.

What an incredible experience! All of us had so much fun. My youngest went around by himself and it was so fun to watch him dig and hammer away at the rock to take what was pulling at his heart. My hubby liked taking huge boulders and smashing them to break them up then ask me if I wanted any of the broken chunks. My oldest and I looked for ourselves and with an open mind to possibly sell some.

We all enjoyed this experience so much, we took our finds home and cleaned them with soap, water, and toothbrush. We learned that the crystals had more than Amethyst to them. Some have citrine, hematite, smoky quartz, red amethyst (super rare), different shades of amethyst, and pyrite (fools gold). All have their own properties, which makes them very unique.

So far, I’ve added a few of these crystals to my store and when those find homes I'll add more.

I sat with my pile and sorted through the ones that called to me and divided them up into 4 groups, for myself, for my singing bowls, for the classes I co-teach, and to sell.

Through my training I learned that amethyst clears singing bowls along with selenite. I did have amethyst in each bowl already but I thought ‘How awesome would it be to hand pick from the earth a crystal for each bowl?’ This makes the connection that much more personal.

I decided to add some big chunks of Amethyst to the classes that I co-teach to help support the energetics of the work we do. Everything has a frequency, crystals support and absorb what they are around. They amplify the energy of a space and transmute low vibrations, which is why they'll need to be cleared from time to time.

Through my training I can clear them and you can put crystals that are self-clearing next to them as well for support. You can also put your crystals out during a full moon. Some self-clearing crystals would be selenite and himalayan salt. These are my personal favs.

I have yet to find homes for the ones I've decided to keep. So far I’ve put a large one by my front door. I look at it and it simply brings me a sense of peace and calm. I have given away a few as well.

Check out the Amethyst that are in the studio and in class!
